It was declared National Monument in 1951,  it is the oldest church in Chiloe that still keeps standing. Located in Achao, A town of Chiloé's Archipelago, In the X Region of Chile. It is the Capital of Quinchao's commune in the island of the same name.

The Achao's architecture stands out for the multiple forms adopted by the larch tejuelas that are used to coat the houses.

The Church's Position

Santa Maria de Achao Church, declared Heritage of Humanity, is located in front of the village square.
It is one of the oldest chilean churches that still stays standing; its construction started in 1730 and it was finish only few years after the Quinchao.
