The Laja falls are located in the VIII Region, in the Biobío's province, 98 Km South of Concepción by the Pan-American Highway. The closes city is Los Angeles, located at 32 km to the North of Laja Falls.

The Laja falls, is one of the most beautiful tourist attractions of the zone. It is a spectacular fall of the torrential river Laja into a deep rocky cannon that has undergone erosion by the water.
The Laja river changes level very abruptly and its waters precipitate in two wonderful chutes of 30 and 40 m, giving origin to an abundant foam than, by the effect of the solar rays, produces uncountable rainbows.
The waters drip later through narrow and walled cannons forming torrents of great force and inenarrable beauty.

Origin of the Laja River

The Laja River originates at the Campamento hill, 35 km Southeast of the lake Laja, and it receives as tributaries the Trapa-Trapa and other small brook along its curse. From the lake until its confluence with the Rucue, it travels 45 km in a primitively plentiful, floody and changing bed.
The surrounding landscape is composed of vegetation of the steppe-type with species of boldo, hawthorn, quillay and trees such as poplars, eucalyptus and willows among others, what configures a tourist attraction of international level.
