The park contains extensions of virgin jungle covered with native trees like coigues, elm trees, olive trees and myrtles.

The park makes frontier with Argentina and the Todos los Santos Lake is located inside its territory. The lake causes impact for the particular emerald green color of its waters and because it is surrounded by three impressive volcanoes that belong to the park as well: The volcano Osorno, volcano Puntiagudo and Tronador hill.
The Petrohué river is located inside of the National Park and it is known because of the chutes  of the same name, where the river's torrent glides over big stones. In this area there are several demarcated hiking paths that penetrate in the native forest.

Discovery of the Lake

Todos los Santos Lake was discovered by the Jesuits that were inhabiting Chiloé's big island, who were looking for a route toward the pampas for the purpose of installing a mission there.

The expedition set off from the sea penetrating through the Reloncavi estuary towards Ralún, discovering later the Lake that they crossed in direction west through which today is known as the international passage of Perez Rosales.
The Jesuits kept doing this route until they abandoned the Nauel Huapi's mission in 1718, tafter which the lake was forgotten.
The lake was rediscovered in the middle of the XIX century when an expedition climbed the volcano Osorno, catching sight of the lake toward the Orient.
