The building of the Central Post Office in Santiago, headquarters of Chile's Post Office, was built as a house for the conqueror Pedro de Valdivia.

It has been successively used by the Chile’s Governors, and then by the Chile’s Presidents until 1846, moment in which the presidential residence was transferred to Palacio de La Moneda.
However, a fire almost completely destroyed the building, being reconstructed in 1882 with the neoclassical style that possess at present.
In 1903, a third floor and a dome at the top were constructed. |
